Four in custody over stolen vehicle

Update: 2pm Four people have been taken into police custody following an incident involving a stolen car in Perth’s southern suburbs this morning.

Police conducting patrols in the Applecross area noticed a stolen Holden Commodore travelling east on Canning Highway, near Francis Street, about 8.30am and tried to stop it.

The Commodore fled and police pursued it through Applecross, Ardross, Booragoon, Melville, Myaree, Winthrop and Brentwood for several minutes.

About 8.37am, the car crashed into a tree on Leach Highway, near Moolyeen Road, in Brentwood and its four male occupants, aged 15 to 22, fled on foot.

Three of the car’s occupants were apprehended on the ground while the fourth was located on a roof at a nearby property with the help of a police dog.

The car has been seized for forensic examination and the car’s occupants are currently assisting detectives with their inquiries.
