Police are searching for a man who threatened staff at a Carlisle deli last night before taking off with the store cash register.

The man entered the stop on Oats Street about 7pm armed with a knife.

He then grabbed the cash register from the counter and fled on foot.

He was last seen running along Bishopgate Street towards Cohn Street.

He is described as a dark skinned male.
