Update, 3pm: A man has appeared in court charged with the alleged shooting murder of his stepson in Clarkson.

Clarkson man Bradley Thomas Daniel Auckram, 52, appeared in East Perth Magistrate's Court today charged with the alleged murder of Jason Jeffrey Burton, 41 in Farren Heights yesterday.

He was remanded in custody until June 27.

Mr Burton died from multiple gunshot wounds at about 12.10pm. Police took Auckram into custody yesterday afternoon and charged him overnight.

In a statement today police said they would allege Mr Burton was shot and killed after a disagreement in the family home.

Neighbours were still in shock today as at least a dozen forensic police and detectives converged onto the Farren Heights property.

Neighbour Alice Povey said she was surprised to hear about the shooting, describing her neighbours as “quiet".

“It’s a total shock,” Mrs Povey said.

Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said he was saddened by the news.

“It’s a shame,” he said.

“It’s a shock that something like that happened and it’s a shock someone had a firearm so close to where we are living."
