Police hunt Merriwa robbers

Police are looking for a gang of eight youths who robbed a Merriwa liquor store last night.

A police spokesman said the group of teenage boys had gone into the store on Baltimore Parade about 8:40pm and began stealing bottles of spirits.

When a 21-year-old employee from the store confronted them over their behaviour one of the youths threatened to hit him with a bottle.

The gang then fled the store with several bottles of liquor.

The youths were described as dark-skinned and about 12 to 16 years old. One of them was wearing a blue baseball cap, black jacket, black jeans and red shoes.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
