A former supervisor at St Andrew's Hostel in Katanning has been charged with child sex offences.

Child abuse squad detectives charged the 62-year-old man with three counts of indecent dealing with a girl under-13 after an investigation into historic child sex offences.

Police will allege the man abused the girl while he and his wife were supervisors at the country hostel in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday June 12.
