Pearce cut as Dockers dump three
Pearce cut as Dockers dump three

Fremantle have axed another three players as they confirmed Nick Lower had been given a contract extension.

Third-year rookies Clancee Pearce and Casey Sibosado along with forward Justin Bollenhagen have all been de-listed, bringing the number of personnel changes at the Dockers to 11 leading into 2012.

The decision comes after five players including Clayton Hinkley were cut last month.

Roger Hayden and Byron Schammer have both retired, while midfielder Rhys Palmer has joined new club Greater Western Sydney.

The Dockers had been forced to make a decision to either upgrade Pearce and Sibosado or de-list the pair, with both players having completed the maximum three years allowable on the club’s rookie list.

Fremantle have the option of re-selecting either player in the coming rookie draft.

Pearce, 21, departs the club after 26 matches, including 12 this season as the club battled a horrendous injury list. He struggled to have an impact in a forward role, booting just five goals in the game time he received in 2011.

He has been invited to continue training with the club in the hopes of pushing his case for re-selection through the draft.

Lower, 24, was meanwhile rewarded for a season where he played 19 games after Fremantle took a punt on the mature-age recruit with pick No.37 in last year’s rookie draft.
