Shark protest raids

Fisheries officers and police raided properties linked to shark cull protesters yesterday over claims Marine Response Unit activists sabotaged drum lines off Cottesloe.

Protester Simon Peterffy said his zodiac boat was seized from a Bicton mooring and a camera, computers, memory cards, a hook and other items were taken during simultaneous raids on properties and a boat linked to the group.

He said he had been warned he faced charges of interfering with a drum line on March 15 and 24.

Fines up to $25,000 and a year in jail apply for unlawfully interfering with fishing gear.
