MKR flogs Logies in ratings

espite all the hype, the first live telecast of the Logies didn’t make a lot of difference to the ratings with TV’s night of nights still failing to attract a million viewers.

The 57th Annual TV Week Logies awards, withPerth -raisedCarrie Bickmore taking the Gold Logie, was ninth inPerth on Sunday night with just 89,000 and fifth nationally with 971,000 viewers tuning into the Nine Network telecast. The red-carpet arrivals feature was 11th in Perth with 81,000 and sixth nationally with 958,000.

Both were far behind the penultimate episode of My Kitchen Rules, which had 261,000 viewers in Perth and 1.674 million nationally for the Seven Network on OzTAM’s overnight ratings.

Bickmore, above, said her Gold Logie acceptance speech, dedicated to her late husbandGreg who died of brain cancer in 2010, nearly didn’t happen.

“I almost didn’t do it,” she said yesterday morning. “There was a minute where I thought ‘Nup, don’t do it’, because it’s such a downer for a room full of people who were so happy.”
