Keddie an early Logies winner

Nine network boss David Gyngell, Today show co-host Karl Stefanovic and former X Factor judge Redfoo have served as the butt of Dave Hughes’ jokes at the Logies.

Early in the evening, Offspring’s Asher Keddie won her fifth consecutive Silver Logie after being voted Most Popular Actress.

“Oh, even I, myself, thought it should be someone’s else’s turn this year - but I’ll take it, thank you,” Keddie said.

The Logies are being held at Crown Melbourne, which is owned by media mogul James Packer.

Hughes, who is a stand-up comedian and radio host, referred to the punch-up between Gyngell and Packer outside the latter’s Bondi home.

“The fight of the century wasn’t today, it wasn’t Mayweather versus Pacquiao in Los Vegas, the fight of the century was exactly 12 months ago and it was James Packer versus David Gyngell in Bondi,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.

“We had the richest man in Australia and the boss of Channel Nine going toe-to-toe in their tracky dacks.

“They ended up rolling around on the gravel with the paparazzi watching on - it was amazing, it was a beautiful moment.”

Hughes said Gyngell told him he didn’t mind if he joked about the fight, just don’t show the photos.

“And I said why not, and he said because I look like a hobo.

“I said mate, you didn’t look like a hobo, Packer looked like a hobo, you looked like a crackhead.”

Hughes also had a go at Stefanovic, referring to the time the co-host was drunk on air and when he wore the same suit for a year.

“He has turned up to work drunk, worn the same clothes for a year, what are you going to do next - sleep under a bridge?” Hughes said.

Reality talent show The X Factor also came under fire. Hughes referred to how judge Ronan Keating didn’t want to stay for another season and how Redfoo wasn’t asked to return.

“Ronan didn’t want to come back but Redfoo didn’t get renewed,“ Hughes said.

“How can you not renew Redfoo? We need his insights!

“Apparently when he found out he said, ‘I didn’t see it coming’. Well get some bigger glasses, you dickhead.”
