Madonna called out for texting during play

Madonna faced a backlash from the star of hip-hop stage show Hamilton after she was reportedly caught texting throughout the performance.

The pop superstar was in the audience for a performance of the musical in New York City on Saturday, but she was called out by star/writer Lin-Manuel Miranda as he hosted a charity auction at the end of the show, according to the New York Daily News.

He reportedly made a jab about a wealthy and well-known audience member who was using her cell phone throughout the second act, and Miranda later posted on Twitter, “Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage noselfieforyou.”

The message was later deleted, but editors at the New York Daily News report that Miranda was referring to Madonna.

The Material Girl’s visit to the show came just hours after US First Lady Michelle Obama saw the matinee performance at the Public Theatre in Manhattan.
