Edwina set for Logies

After three months on the road contending with red dirt and sandflies, Sunrise weather presenter Edwina Bartholomew can’t wait to swap her mud-soaked boots and jeans for a pair of high heels and a gown at the Logie Awards.

Traversing the country in a caravan and four-wheel-drive for Sunrise’s Lap of the Map expedition, Bartholomew is only a third of the way into what she anticipates will be a nine- month trip, which will see her notch up more than 14,000km.

Since kicking off the journey in Tasmania in early February, followed by a stint in South Australia, the 31-year-old has spent the past few days in WA, taking in the sights in Albany, Esperance, Busselton and Margaret River.

Now in Perth, Bartholomew took time out of her busy schedule yesterday to catch up with one of her favourite designers, stopping in at Aurelio Costarella’s North Perth shop Post Emporium to pick out a glamorous outfit to wear to the Logies in Melbourne on May 3.

“It’s a bit weird — I have hairy legs and bites from things all over me and there’s no spray tan to speak of,” she toldAAA when asked how she feels preparing for the awards mid-road trip.

“It’s fortuitous that I can come through Perth and have access to such beautiful dresses and be able to throw one in the back of the caravan and take it to the Logies.”

While she has enjoyed taking a short break from her adventure across the country to try on red- carpet looks, the SA-born journalist admitted she was looking forward to getting back on the road to see more of the State.

“I love WA,” Bartholomew said. “The scenery here, especially the coastline, is some of the best in Australia. It’s just beautiful.

“We’re off to a place called the Principality of Hutt River on Friday, which is actually not part of WA; it’s its own country and it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go.

“Then I’ll be swimming with the whale sharks on the weekend and going out to the Pilbara and Karijini National Park before flying out to the Logies.”
