If the premise of travelling back in time to stop something bad happening in the future sounds familiar, in this case it has good reason. Based on the 1995 Terry Gilliam movie of the same name that starred Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis, this sci-fi series starts in the year 2043. The majority of the population has been wiped out by a plague and the rest are in survival mode or have turned into savages. James Cole (Aaron Stanford) travels back to 2013 to kidnap Dr Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull), believing she knows how to find the man who created the virus (Madam Secretary's Zeljko Ivanek). Unable to complete his mission before he "splinters", Cole instructs Railly to wait for him at a hotel bar in 2015, turning her life upside down and beginning the time-travelling action. Although most of the cast are unknowns, the storytelling and effects are solid.
