With all the wheeling and dealing that Olivia Pope and the folk in the White House do, there are bound to be repercussions and this episode sees everyone facing the consequences. The action kicks off in the middle of a vicious argument between vice-president Sally Langston and her husband, in which his indiscretions and Cyrus' blackmail come to a head. Olivia is distracted by her search for the truth about her mother's terrorist activities. This fast-paced political drama can be disorienting at times but at the heart of it is the view that there is no tragedy so bad that someone will not try to turn it to their advantage.
