Besties melt in MKR heat

WA cooks Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay were celebrating last night after winning a place in the My Kitchen Rules top four, while another team was left devastated.

Tasmanian besties Thalia Papadakis and Bianca Johnston crumbled under the stress of the Seven show's ultimate instant restaurant round, plating up six dishes they admitted were "too ambitious" and suffering what was their first major cooking disaster in the contest.

Things started to go downhill after the pair received lukewarm feedback for their entrees, making several mistakes while preparing their two main course options.

Flustered and in tears, the duo could barely look at each other as they plated up their creations and confessed they did not want to face the judges.

"We have literally broken down in the middle of a challenge," a sobbing Johnson said, before adding: "We can't bring it back. We are going home."

But the worst was yet to come for Johnson, when she later dropped one of the desserts down the stairs as the other teams winced at the sound of the dish smashing in the background.

Papadakis and Johnson, who had been one of the strongest pairs in the competition, were awarded an overall score of 58 out of 100 for their menu, sending them straight to the bottom of the leaderboard.

However, their failure was a blessing for MKR "villains" James and Ramsay, who instantly landed a spot in the finals when the girls bumped them up from last place.

SA mums Bree May and Jessica Liebich, and Melbourne twins Helena and Vikki Moursellas are still to compete in the round.
