Grand Designs UK
THURSDAY, 5.30PM, LIFESTYLE

This is the 100th episode of Grand Designs and what a building to choose for the celebration.

The old water tower built in 1867 to service the Lambeth workhouse is a towering 30.5m-high brick square topped with a massive iron water tank.

Leigh Osborne and Graham Voce plan to turn it into a home and do so in eight months.

This involves careful restoration as the tower is heritage listed, as well as erecting two adjoining buildings, one with kitchen/living space and the other with a lift and bathrooms.

It sounds expensive and becomes even more so as the build progresses but at the end, the pair have the most stunning living room in London - it looks Big Ben in the eye and has a 360-degree view.
