Perth songbird Samantha Jade last night showed just why she landed a place in The X Factor semifinals when she received the series' first standing ovation from all four judges - not once, but twice.

The 25-year-old wowed with her performance of Kanye West's Heartless and floored them again when she returned for a second number, singing Where Have You Been by Rihanna.

Ronan Keating said the brunette beauty could easily finish first at next week's final.

"Saving this for the semifinal is impressive," he said. "I am scared for my boys (The Collective)."

Jade later went on to trend worldwide on Twitter.

Bella Ferraro's chances of making the final diminished when she was criticised for both songs.

The teen led with a cover of La Roux's Bulletproof and later sang the fan-requested The Last Day on Earth by Kate Miller-Heidke but failed to shine.

Keating commented that Ferraro was pitchy, while Mel B said the first performance confused her. "I found it a little too cheesy," she said. "I think your voice is better than that."

After finishing in the bottom two last week, boy band The Collective bounced back with versions of Apologize by One Republic and Yeah 3x by Chris Brown.

Guy Sebastian said he couldn't fault the group vocally and Mel B also dished out praise. "I felt like I was at your concert," she said. "The whole bloody thing was bloody great."

Country boy Jason Owen garnered mixed reactions for his performances, with the judges commending his rendition of Life is a Highway but panning his take on How Do I Live by LeAnn Rimes.

Though the Seven show has topped the ratings ladder, it hasn't been without controversy, with one magazine reporting this week that the series is a "sham", alleging that the winner was chosen weeks ago.

The X Factor live decider airs today at 7.30pm on Seven/GWN.
