Controversial series Go Back to Where You Came From is set to return to our screens over three consecutive nights from August 28.

The highly anticipated return of the SBS One series, which won the 2012 Logie for Most Outstanding Factual Program, will be followed by an Insight special hosted by Jenny Brockie on August 31 at 8.30pm.

This year, high profile Australians Angry Anderson, Peter Reith, Imogen Bailey, Allan Asher, Catherine Deveny and Michael Smith will challenge their preconceived notions of refugees and asylum seekers by experiencing a confronting 25-day refugee journey in reverse.

Go Back to Where You Came From airs August 28 to 31 on SBS One.
