British band Blur have announced they will embark on their first Aussie tour in more than 18 years.

On the back of their eighth studio album The Magic Whip, which is out on Monday, the rockers, right, will head Down Under in July for a three-date tour to coincide with an appearance at music festival Splendour in the Grass.

They will play dates in Sydney and Melbourne before wrapping up at Perth Arena on July 31.

The four-piece, which consists of Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree, went on hiatus in 2003 after a 14-year run but reunited in 2013. They were initially set to perform in Australia at the Big Day Out last year but pulled out of the line-up over creative differences.

At the time, Blur said they would not be touring for the foreseeable future in order to work on individual projects.

However, they announced in February they had been back in the studio working on The Magic Whip, which is their first release in 12 years.

Tickets for Blur’s tour are on sale from May 1.
