Justin Bieber scraps new album
Justin Bieber dumped the majority of songs he had recorded for his upcoming album because he is no longer in the "dark place" he was in when he first started work on the project.
Over the past few years, the Baby hitmaker became more known for his bad boy behaviour than his music due to a number of legal issues, arrests and nightclub scuffles, plus convictions for vandalism, careless driving and resisting arrest.
He apologised for his "arrogant" ways in a candid video in January, insisting he was just "pretending" to be troublesome and promised to be "kind and loving" as he mounts a music comeback.
Bieber has now revealed he had to scrap most of the tracks from the follow-up to 2012's Believe because he wanted his new album to reflect his radical change.
He tells Usatoday.com, "My whole direction has changed. What you are thinking about all the time is what you write, and now that I'm thinking about more positive things, it completely changes my music. I had to re-do my whole (new) album. It was done but it didn't match up to where I am now and where my head's at. I want to tell my story, but I also want to give people hope. I lost hope for a while, I was in a dark place, but it's about getting out of that rut. It's about knowing there's sunshine on the other side... You're around some people sometimes and it might taint what you believe. I think that's what happened with me, I lowered my beliefs."
The album's release date has yet to be announced.
