Back in the studio
Boy & Bear

Boy & Bear will go back into the studio down a member after announcing the departure of bass player Jake Tarasenko.

The Sydney band, currently working on a follow-up to 2011's Moonfire album, say Tarasenko has left to "pursue other interests".

"We will miss Jake and wish him all the best for the future," a statement reads. "We are currently writing our next album and can't wait to get back out there in 2013 to play you all some new tunes."

Boy & Bear started in 2009 as a solo project for singer Dave Hosking before he was joined by Tarasenko, Killian Gavin and brothers Tim and Jon Hart.

Celebrated for their folk rock harmonies, the band won four ARIAs in 2011, including awards for best group, breakthrough artist and best album for their debut Moonfire. It is believed Tarasenko will start work on a solo project after recently appearing on the debut album from Tim Hart.

Boy & Bear are expected to have a second album ready in early 2013, after dates at the Falls and Southbound festivals over the new year.
