Australian actor *Callan Mulvey *has gone from Heartbreak High to Hollywood after being cast in the upcoming big-budget Batman and Superman movie.

After starring in local series including Home and Away, McLeod's Daughters and Underbelly, the 39-year-old, above, moved to the US last year.

He has already been snapped up for roles in Zero Dark Thirty and 300: Rise of an Empire but perhaps Mulvey's largest coup to date will see him star alongside *Henry Cavill * and *Ben Affleck *in the as yet unnamed superhero flick.

Though he could not discuss specifics related to his character, Mulvey spoke of his excitement at working with 300 director *Zack Snyder *once more on the follow-up to 2013's Man of Steel.

"Talent as a director aside, people really love working for Zack and being on his sets, which says it all really," he said.

Still known for his role as Drazic on teen drama Heartbreak High in the 1990s, Mulvey said the show gave him a good foundation.

While his career is going from strength to strength now, Mulvey's future as an actor was threatened after he suffered serious facial injuries in a 2003 car accident. He has since made a full recovery.
