Sam Smith is relishing the peace in the outback after cancelling his Australian tour.

Smith suffered a small haemorrhage on his vocal cords after his first Sydney show, which forced him to cancel his remaining dates, including his appearance at last night’s Logie Awards.

Smith told fans he was enjoying the downtime in an Instagram post on Saturday: “I am insanely relaxed and am somewhere in the middle of Australia with no phone, no laptop and I haven’t spoken a word in three days. Trying my absolute best to be back on my feet and singing for next week.”

Frontier Touring is working with Smith to schedule a new Australian tour for December. Ticketholders have been offered refunds.
