She has found fame as a “spice queen” on the latest season of My Kitchen Rules but now WA’s Eva Lean is preparing to swap her apron for a bridal gown.

After returning home from filming episodes for the popular cooking quest, Lean’s boyfriend of three years — acclaimed artist Andy Quilty — whisked her away down south to one of their favourite spots to pop the big question.

As the sun set over Sugarloaf Rock on the tip of Cape Naturaliste, Quilty got down on one knee and presented Lean with the ring of her dreams.

“We had been talking about getting married for a really long time but I didn’t expect it,” she told AAA of the proposal.

“It was a complete surprise to me because we were doing things we always do when we go down south — watching the sun set on the rocks. It was very romantic and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

Lean is now busy organising their nuptials, which will take place at a winery in March next year.

“We’re definitely going to get married down south because it’s a special place for us — Andy surfs down there all of the time and we’ve made many trips there together,” the 32-year-old said.

Quilty added with a grin: “I like the idea that you’re not allowed to see the bride beforehand so that I can go surfing with my two best mates.”

As for the all-important wedding dress, the bride-to-be revealed she would don a traditional gown that celebrated her family’s international roots.

“I’m Indian but born and raised in Singapore, then I moved here 12 years ago, and the more I’ve been away from home the more I feel like I need to retain my heritage,” she explained.

“After being on the show, that really and emphasised the fact that I want to celebrate who I am and where I’m from. So I would love to wear a sari — something different and special.”
