WA model soldiers on

She didn't make the top six finalists at Friday's 2014 Miss Universe WA State final and last night she was sent packing from Foxtel's reality model search, The Face Australia, in a shock decision by catwalk queen *Naomi Campbell *that will now see her mentor *Nicole Trunfio *fly solo.

But despite suffering two setbacks to her burgeoning modelling career, *Karrinyup * *- *raised beauty *Anouska Freedman * is holding her head high. Speaking to _AAA _ this week, Freedman hit back at comments by Campbell that she wasn't prepared to take on the international modelling circuit.

"I think she's wrong," Freedman said. "I am ready and at that point I was ready to take on a serious modelling career and I think it's hard because the other mentors don't know you that well . . . They only see what you put forward, and unfortunately for me, Naomi didn't see potential in what I had put forward. Hopefully I can prove her wrong now."

Last night's elimination proved all too much for the 20-year-old, who broke down in tears at the thought of leaving Trunfio without a team to mentor.

"There was a lot of pressure being the last person on Team Nicole, so I got a little bit emotional," she said. "For me, the worst thing about going home was that I felt I really let Nicole down. I felt really bad when I left."

But Freedman admitted to feeling shocked by Campbell's decision to send her home over mentor *Cheyenne Tozzi *'s model, Kenya-born Sydney based *Yaya *.

"I have mixed emotions about it because I don't believe anyone deserves to stay over another person but I felt that it was frustrating because I was quite consistent," she said. "I didn't think I'd go home, because I felt confident in how I had performed at the catwalk challenge, even though in one of the walks I struggled with the dress I was wearing."

Nonetheless, Freedman - who is signed with local agency *Chadwick's Perth * - is determined to push on with her modelling career.

"I'm going travelling in Europe in July and hopefully I will go knock on some doors and see if I can get anywhere in Europe," she said. "I'm going to talk to my modelling agency here to see if they can set me up with anything but that's the plan for me."

Freedman described Trunfio as a "big sister" and said the pair had kept in touch since she left the show.

"I'm so happy I got her as a mentor because she's still kept in contact with me and she still puts the time in even though I know she's so busy," she said.
