Just a week after unveiling David Jones’ 2013 autumn-winter collections in Sydney, Perth-raised model Rose Smith has gone on to front one of the collectors’ edition covers to mark Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s 15th anniversary.
The coup marks the first time Smith, above, has been featured on the cover of an Australian fashion magazine after continued success overseas.
Decked out in a sleek and sexy Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton ensemble, the blue-eyed beauty — who is now based in New York — features on one of 15 covers, below, which have been created by 15 leading designers as part of the magazine’s March issue.
The high-fashion identities include Giorgio Armani, Victoria Beckham, Collette Dinnigan, Frida Giannini for Gucci, Christophe Lemaire for Hermes, Karl Lagerfeld, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Christian Louboutin, Stella McCartney, Romance Was Born, sass & bide and Carine Roitfeld.
The first-ever Australian edition of Harper’s Bazaar hit shelves in 1998, with Nicole Kidman gracing the cover.
Smith flew back to Australia last week to take part in the DJs parade and told AAA that she loved the vibrancy of New York City while also hinting at a busy year ahead.
“New York is an amazing city, there’s always something exciting to do and the work there is amazing, it’s a lot of fun,” she said. “I won’t be doing the shows in New York this season but I might be going to Paris and Milan. I’m not really sure yet.”
Smith also didn’t rule out returning to her home town later this year for Perth Fashion Festival, after turning down an offer to front the event last year due to a schedule conflict in Europe.
“It would be amazing if that could all align because I’d love to front the fashion festival in the town that I’m from,” she said.
