F *rank Ocean * says he wants "peace" between himself and *Chris Brown *, right, following their recent brawl.
The musicians are claimed to have got into a fight outside Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles last Sunday.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, Grammy-nominated singer Ocean was "desirous of prosecution" initially, as he accused Brown of starting the fight.
But Ocean no longer wants to press charges against Brown, saying he has moved on from the altercation.
"As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man," Ocean wrote on his Tumblr account.
"But as a man I am not a killer. I'm an artist and a modern person. I'll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace."
Surveillance footage of the brawl obtained by officials reportedly vindicated both Ocean and Brown. It appeared that members of their entourages were the ones fighting.
Any charges against Brown could have had serious implications as he is on probation for his 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend *Rihanna *.
Brown and Ocean are both nominated in the best urban contemporary album category at the Grammys, which take place on February 10 in Los Angeles.
