Josh Brolin was reportedly arrested for public intoxication on New Year's Day.
The 44-year-old True Grit actor was booked into jail at 3.02am local time after being arrested in Santa Monica, California just before midnight, according to TMZ.
TMZ reports that Josh was having "too much fun" getting rowdy with his guy friends while partying hard. Apparently he became a nuisance and had to be taken into custody.
He was cited for the incident and released at 7.14am the same day.
Authorities will take no further action against Brolin if he pays his fine.
Brolin has been in trouble with the law previously.
In 2004, the star was charged with misdemeanour battery.
Four years later he faced the same indictment after getting involved in a bar brawl.
Charges were dropped in both cases.
Brolin's upcoming film Gangster Squad, which also stars Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and Emma Stone, will be released in US cinemas on January 11.
