Bella fires up career

Bella Ferraro may have narrowly missed out on a place in the X Factor grand final last month but, with a new single out and fresh romance blooming, it seems the only way is up for the indie songstress.

After wowing the judges with her rendition of Skinny Love early on in the competition, Ferraro exited the Seven talent quest in fourth place and admitted to AAA that it wasn't easy leaving so close to the grand final.

"For the first few weeks after the show I was really low and flat because I wasn't really doing anything," she said.

"I kind of felt really uncomfortable, I just wanted to be filming and singing with the contestants."

However, the sadness soon disappeared when Ferraro was given the chance to release what would have been her winner's single, the ethereal track Set Me On Fire, which quickly shot up the iTunes charts when it debuted last week.

The 18-year-old also revealed that a romance developed on the show for her and a member of the audio crew but, until recently, they had to keep it quiet.

"I liked him for quite a while on the show but obviously couldn't do anything about it," Ferraro said.

"We waited until I was eliminated but we didn't make anything official until the show had wrapped up.

"It's quite a new relationship but it feels like I have known him for ages because I was around him for a long time."

Though Ferraro was heavily criticised for some of her performances on X Factor, she believes the show has prepared her well for the ins and outs of the cutthroat music business.

The singer said she was looking forward to writing material for her debut album, to be released next year, and possibly having a future relationship with the show.

"I'd love to be involved in the next season somehow," Ferraro said.

"Just to be there and form a close relationship with the contestants. And I would like to do some acting as well next year."
