Russell Crowe has remained mum about his recent split from wife of nine years Danielle Spencer but being away from his two young sons, Charlie and Tennyson, appears to be weighing down on the Aussie star.

The actor, above, revealed his feelings via Twitter yesterday, saying how much he missed his family and longed to see them again.

"Starting on another film set tomorrow. I need to go home & be with my children. Cannot believe how fkd (sic) up my schedule has become this year."

Then, just 13 hours later, Crowe spoke of his eight-year-old son Charlie: "From my 8-year-old last night, he is trying to teach me to play his favourite computer game. You've got a lot to learn when you get home."

The 48-year-old has had a hectic year of filming, having recently wrapped up Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah as well as working on two other films, Superman remake Man of Steel and Les Miserables.

Crowe has now begun production on his fourth film for the year, A Winter's Tale, which began filming yesterday.
