Sunrise host Melissa Doyle was more than happy to give up family time to be in Perth this weekend for Telethon.
Her hectic TV schedule means weekends are usually spent with her husband and two young children.
But Doyle said making the trip west was nothing compared with what the sick children at Princess Margaret Hospital have had to endure.
"When you work the hours we do, weekends are pretty special," Doyle, above, told AAA.
"So it was really important to me to say to my children 'Well I'm going to Perth to do Telethon, we're raising money into research for other children who aren't as healthy as you guys'.
"I'm just really honoured that I can do something."
Having been involved in the annual children's fundraiser for close to a decade, Doyle said she still choked up each time she visited the hospital.
"My darling husband expects a phone call from me every year as soon as we leave the hospital because it's upsetting; you can't walk around the ward and see the kids and not be affected in some way," she said.
