Bieber hoax hits teens
Justin Bieber

Hundreds of loyal Justin Bieber fans have become victims of a cruel prank, shaving their heads after been fooled into thinking the pop star had cancer.

Young fans were asked by internet pranksters who had hacked Entertainment Tonight's official Twitter page to show their support for Bieber by posting photos of themselves bald on Twitter, accompanied by the hash tag "Bald for Bieber".

"Pop star Justin Bieber was diagnosed with cancer earlier this morning. Bieber fans are shaving their heads to show support," the hoax tweet read.

Though the tweet was swiftly removed, fans soon realised that it was all a hoax - which proved too late for some who had already shaved off their locks.

While Bieber, right, is yet to speak out about the scam, the 18-year-old's bodyguard Kenny Hamilton has since taken to his Twitter page to deny the cancer rumours.
