While Danielle Spencer and Russell Crowe are yet to confirm or comment publicly on their split after nine years of marriage, some of those closest to the couple have started to open up.
Yesterday, Spencer's dad, former Play School presenter Don Spencer, said he was "sad" following the reports of the break-up.
"I love them both and am naturally sad as any father would be in this situation," he told Who magazine.
Damian Whitewood, Danielle's Dancing with the Stars partner has also broken his silence on the speculation he was involved in the split by being romantically linked with the 43-year-old singer/songwriter earlier this year after the pair had made it through to the grand final of the Seven dance competition.
"Wow! Sad and crazy news day full of rumours I didn't ask for," Whitewood tweeted from his US base.
Spencer is currently in Sydney with their sons, Charles, 8, and Tennyson, 6. She was photographed yesterday without her wedding ring and it has been reported it was her decision to end the marriage, which friends say has "been coming for some time" and they had been living separate lives since last year.
Oscar winner Crowe, above, is still in New York where he took the stage at the Gramercy Theatre Saturday night with Alan Doyle, Sting and his Les Miserables co-star Samantha Barks.
He is also filming the biblical epic Noah, co-starring Emma Watson, and has grown a bushy beard for the role
Crowe tweeted yesterday, but only to promote his latest album and update his fans on his latest workout, remaining silent on the reported split.
