Perth songbird Samantha Jade narrowly avoided being eliminated from the X Factor last night as soul diva Angel Tupai was sent packing from the smash-hit talent search.

The performers were pitted against each other in the live decider sing-off, when Tupai tackled Pink's Family Portrait and Jade opted to sing I Will Be by Leona Lewis.

When Tupai's mentor Natalie Bassingthwaighte chose to save her and Guy Sebastian voted to keep Jade on his over-25s team, it was up to the other judges to decide who would go.

But Ronan Keating voted Tupai off and Mel B choose Jade to leave - sending the elimination into deadlock and leaving it up to the public vote.

On hearing the news she received the lowest number of votes, Tupai thanked the audience for accepting her.

"I am happy that I've come here and done what I wanted to do," she said.

It was the second time in five weeks Jade had been in the bottom two but avoided elimination.

Last night also saw South Korean pop sensation Psy perform for the first time on Australian TV with his viral dance track Gangnam Style.

Clad in a white tuxedo jacket and black shades, Psy busted out the signature dance which has brought him worldwide attention. He was later joined by judge Mel B who was chosen by the public to dance "Mel Style" on stage.

"My daughter will kill me if I don't do this," she said.

Also performing on the show was previous X Factor winner Reece Mastin, who announced he would bring his latest tour to Perth Arena on December 1 with Justice Crew and YouTube sensations The Janoskians.
