Perth-born actor Jacob Allan is slightly worried about how he will fare at this Saturday's Chris Mainwaring Legends Match for Telethon at Patersons Stadium.

The WAAPA-trained actor, who currently stars in Seven's hit drama series Packed to the Rafters as Dave Rafter's long-lost brother Matt, will head west this week to take part in the charity match. He is teaming up with a host of former Geelong veterans to play for the TomCATS (Tired Old Men).

"It'll be the first time I've played footy in about 15 years so that's a bit scary," Allan said during a phone chat with AAA this week. "But I'm starting to get a bit worried because I looked at the list of names of who's playing and they're all former AFL players."

While he will have fellow Rafters co-star George Houvardas and AFL legend Stephen O'Reilly on his side, Allan will go head-to-head with Balcatta-raised singer Johnny Ruffo and a host of former West Coast Eagles greats, including Rowan Jones and Chad Fletcher, who will represent the OWLS (Older Wiser Larger Slower) team.

A Fremantle Dockers fan, Allan said that he had no qualms getting stuck into his rivals.

"Being a Fremantle supporter, let's just say my allegiance doesn't really fall with the Eagles," he said.

"But, look, I'm just happy to be in the forward pocket and touch the ball every now and again. I'll give it a red hot go. "

Aside from gearing up for this week's match, Allan has also been dabbling in some behind-the-scenes work on Packed to the Rafters.

"I've been doing a bit of a directing attachment but I've also been in the editing suite," he said. "I think it's great as an actor to have a more rounded view of how it all works. So it's been a great experience."

Tickets to the Chris Mainwaring Legends Match are still available through Ticketmaster.
