Nicole Kidman has expressed her heartache over the death of director Tony Scott.

The Australian actress was the leading lady in Scott's film Days of Thunder, the film where she hooked up with her first husband Tom Cruise.

"I'm so so sad. I loved Tony and he was always so good to me. He will be deeply missed by so many of us that knew him," Kidman said.

Scott, the younger brother of filmmaker Ridley Scott, jumped to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles on Sunday.

US police say the 68-year-old had left a suicide note in his office.
