Tonight the reality TV juggernaut that is Big Brother returns to the small screen on a new network, but don't expect to meet all the housemates in one go.
Nine has made the decision to spread the revelations of which people from the 20,000 applicants will actually enter the house on Gold Coast's Dreamworld over two or three nights this week.
"We will meet some of the housemates on Monday and I would imagine the rest of them on Tuesday, because we have a big live show on Tuesday as well," new host *Sonia Kruger *, left, told _AAA _.
"It is good to mix it up and this way we will have more of a chance to explore each person."
Kruger, who famously defected from Seven to Nine last year to take on the Big Brother role, said she has decided to stay in the dark about who the new housemates are.
"Until this point I have been told nothing about the housemates," she said. "It is probably a good thing because I have found my own excitement levels have built with the public. But now I am ready to know who these people are."
Setting this series apart from the version that screened for eight years on Ten is that each of housemates will also have a secret they will have to keep from one another.
The idea comes from a successful version of French Big Brother.
"It adds another layer and another element to the show," Kruger said.
"It means that viewers can get a little bit more involved in working out what the secrets are and who belongs to which secret and how all that works.
"I think that is going to be a really intriguing part of the show."
This year's Big Brother house is the biggest one yet, with 2330 sqm of living space.
As shown in the first-look photos above, the home, designed by *Rodney Brunsdon *, features a past, present and future theme.
With its over-the-top retro appearance, the kitchen represents the past while the bedroom, dominated by double beds, and living areas represent the future and the outdoor space and pool area are meant to be representative of the present.
While the first eviction won't officially happen until Sunday, August 26, Kruger said she was already thinking about what she would be wearing on the night. Former host *Gretel Killeen *'s eviction night wardrobe choices were often as widely discussed as the evicted housemates.
"There has been like a committee of people talking about it," Kruger said. "It can be a bit rock'n'roll and a bit edgy in terms of fashion and I am really going to enjoy that side of things."
"At the end of the day you can't please everybody because fashion is such a subjective thing. People will always have strong views on what they like and what they don't like."
