A woman has been charged with breaking into music mogul Simon Cowell's home, British police say.

Leanne Zaloumis, 29, faces a charge of aggravated burglary, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said on Sunday.

The alleged offence took place at Cowell's home in west London on Saturday night.

Zaloumis is in custody and will appear at West London Magistrates Court on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Cowell's production company Syco refused to comment on the incident and referred the matter to police.

It is not known whether Cowell was in the house at the time.
