Little Britain star Matt Lucas has vowed to leave Twitter after one user apparently made a joke about the suicide of his ex-partner.
The comedian said he would be shutting down his account on the microblogging site after the comment by a user calling themselves oOfuscoOo.
Lucas married Kevin McGee in a civil partnership in December 2006. The couple divorced just over two years later and Mr McGee died in 2009.
After seeing the message on the social networking site yesterday, Lucas replied saying: "Shame on you."
He later added: "I'm not joking. I think you should delete that tweet. It really upset me."
In another posting, Lucas told his 567,000 followers: "I'm disappointed that @oOfuscoOo thinks jokes about the suicide of my former partner are funny.
"I appreciate all the support on here over the past couple of years but it's time to shut down my Twitter account. Xx"
The user who posted the message to Lucas has since closed the account on the social networking site.
McGee was found dead at his Edinburgh flat after leaving a message on Facebook.
Lucas pulled out of a starring role in a West End show in which he played a character preparing to take his own life shortly afterwards.
