Smith seeks treatment in US

British singer Sam Smith is heading to the US to see a specialist after pulling out of more tour dates because of a haemorrhage on his vocal cords.

The star, 22, quit his Australian tour last week after doctors discovered the problem.

He has posted an image of himself on Instagram looking glum, with a caption referring to the cancellation of gigs in Japan and Manila.

“Very upset about Japan and Manila dates,” he wrote.

“I’ve just left Australia and I’m on my way to the States to see a specialist to see what to do from there ... ”

The Grammy award-winning singer recently revealed that he had been “vocally exhausted”.

Smith is hoping to reschedule his Australian dates for December.
