Daniel MacPherson has decided to leave Seven’s Dancing with the Stars to focus on his acting career.

MacPherson, right, has hosted the dancing show since taking over from Daryl Somers in 2008.

“I’ve worked hard to reinvigorate my acting career and I’m focused on that 100 per cent. Eddie (Edwina Bartholomew) will have to find a new co-host,” MacPherson told TV Week magazine.

MacPherson, who is engaged to WA actress Zoe Ventoura, has a starring role in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Infini, to be released digitally in Australia tomorrow, and is shooting MTV fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles in New Zealand.

Yesterday, Bartholomew tweeted MacPherson all the best after the news emerged.

“We will miss you @DanMacPherson The only thing crazier than the set of @DancingAU is Hollywood. My best to Hugh and Cate. Keep killing it xx.”

Dancing with the Stars is already teasing who might appear on its next season with the first promo suggesting a contestant from this year’s My Kitchen Rules will appear.
