Weaver signs on for Aussie thriller
Oscar-nominated actor Jacki Weaver will star in a new Australian-made contemporary western thriller.
Weaver, Aaron Pedersen, David Gulpilil and David Wenham have all signed-on for Goldstone which is the latest film from acclaimed writer/director Ivan Sen (Mystery Road, Beneath Clouds).
Filming will commence at Winton, in central West Queensland, in May.
It will be produced by David Jowsey (Mystery Road, Satellite Boy) and part-funded by Screen Queensland, which has tipped more than half a million dollars into the project.
Goldstone is a spin off from Sen’s acclaimed Mystery Road, also shot in Winton Queensland in 2012, and supported by Screen Queensland through development and production funding.
Mystery Road premiered internationally at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival and opened the 60th Sydney Film Festival.
In Goldstone, Pedersen will reprise his role of indigenous detective, Jay Swan, who was introduced to audiences in Mystery Road.
