Rayne Embley take the reins

Gone are the days when invitations arrived at the Embley household addressed to “Andrew and guest”.

With his wife Rayne’s star on the rise thanks to her popular blog Right as Rayne and a massive Instagram following, the Ord Valley Muster is just the latest event at which the retired West Coast Eagles midfielder will attend as her plus one.

“For so long she was supporting me through my football career and now in a way I’m supporting her,” Andrew said. “I really am enjoying the fact that Rayne’s taking the spotlight and I’m in the back seat.”

As ambassadors for the 2015 Ord Valley Muster, the couple will head to Kununurra next month for the ten-day festival of music, food, comedy and markets, which will culminate in the black tie Kimberley Moon Experience with performances from The Living End, Dan Sultan and Megan Washington.

“We’re really looking forward to it, incorporating a bit of food and hopefully barramundi fishing,” keen cook Andrew said.

With the pair in negotiations to sell the Claremont restaurant Beluga they own with Dean Cox, they’re focussed on achieving a healthy work-life balance.

“She’s out a lot and so am I so it’s just trying to make sure that the time we do have together is quality time, which we’re getting better at,” he said. “Her work starts at 7.30-8pm at night when the kids go to bed — I don’t think we’ve ever gone to bed together because she doesn’t go to bed before midnight.

“But it works well, I’m up early and I’m happy to give her a sleep-in and look after the kids.”

For Rayne, who attended Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for the first time this year, it’s a labour of love.

“I’m now fulfilled on on every level,” she said of the two-year-old blog.

“I’m still a stay-at-home mum, but everything’s falling into place now and the blog’s become an extension of what I’m doing in terms of emceeing, ambassadorships and hosting events.”

Andrew joked: “So I’m just glad she invited me, she could have taken anyone.”
