BOYS TOUR WITH BACKSTREET DAD

Backstreet Boys. Left to right: Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, A. J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson.

He’s famous for being a member of the best-selling boy band in history but, first and foremost, the Backstreet Boys’ Kevin Richardson is a devoted father and husband.

After 13 years spent touring the world selling millions of albums to legions of devoted fans, Richardson left Backstreet Boys in 2006 to take a break from life in the spotlight and to focus on having a family with his wife, actressKristin Richardson .

Fast forward to 2012 and the Los Angeles-based performer was ready to reunite with the globetrotting musical entity, returning to the touring circuit with his young family in tow.

“They’ve been able to come out with me quite a bit, which has been great to show my little boys the world,” he toldAccess All Areas down the line from his home in California.

“They got to come to Europe with me and come all over the US and to Japan. It’s been really amazing, it’s been a blessing.”

Twenty-two years since the chart-topping group formed and life on the road has changed significantly for all of the Backstreet Boys, who now prefer to surround themselves with their wives and children rather than groupies.

“We have our families on board (our tour buses) and have our own privacy so our children don’t annoy anybody else,” Richardson said.

“Backstage we have a little family room and it’s kind of like daddy day care in there. It’s neat to see all of us starting our families and having our kids out on the road.”

After rejoining the band just in time for their 20th anniversary in 2013, Richardson hasn’t looked back, loving every minute spent on stage with his old friends.

“It’s been great, I’m having a lot of fun,” he enthused.

“The reaction and the response and the demand from the fans has been amazing.”

Following a two-year world tour that has seen them perform to adoring crowds in China, America, Canada, Japan and across Europe, the 43-year old singer and his colleagues now have their sights set Down Under, with an Aussie tour that will touch down atPerth Arena on May 15.

“We’re so excited, we love Australia,” Richardson said.

“We have a blast down there. You guys have been amazing to us throughout our career.”
