Johnny unruffled by busy schedule

Life has become a precise balancing act for Perth actor and pop star Johnny Ruffo.

Juggling a chart-topping music career and his role on hit Seven TV series Home and Away hasn't been easy for the down-to-earth entertainer, who has to manage his schedule carefully to fit everything in.

Despite having little to no downtime, Ruffo is loving every day and wouldn't want things any other way.

"Life is quite busy at the moment but I'm having fun," he told AAA.

"It's pretty full on, I don't get a lot of time off but at the same time with work I get to travel and see other places, plus I love what I do so it's good fun anyway. It's a busy schedule but I'm enjoying it."

After an extended break from the airwaves following the release of his 2013 single Untouchable, the Balcatta-raised heart-throb is preparing to take things up a gear, with a new album in the works.

Citing influences including Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars, Ruffo hopes fans will enjoy the upbeat energy of the first single off the record - She's Got That O.

"It's fun, upbeat, funky and a little bit cheeky," Ruffo said of the track.

"Hopefully it will get people dancing. We're hoping at this stage it will be released in May and I will probably drop three or four singles this year and then tour after that.

"It's all dependent on the filming schedule and having to book time off from filming."

In between long days on set and time spent in the studio, Ruffo will squeeze in a trip back to Perth from his home base in Sydney later this month to be a special guest at the *Telethon *Adventurers marquee at Polo in the Valley, at Duncraig Stud, on April 19.

"It's always good to get back to Perth, I love coming back and seeing all of my mates and especially getting involved in things like this," he enthused. "Telethon Adventurers is such a good cause - they help Telethon so much every year. Getting back and being able to help out is the least I can do."
