MKR pair cook up wedding excuses

D *rasko Jankovic *and *Bianca Thair *had to come up with all sorts of excuses as to why they had to postpone their November wedding.

The *WA * lovebirds were knee-deep in planning when they received the call to be on My Kitchen Rules, forcing them to change the date and attempt to divert their curious guests.

"We had to reprint the invites and tell our family all sorts of lies to try and throw them off," Thair told _AAA Weekend _.

"By the end of it, we were so confused about what lies we had told which person, we just couldn't remember."

Jankovic added: "People thought Bianca was pregnant. They were congratulating us and we were like 'That's not it'."

But everything fell into place for the *Kensington * couple when they tied the knot on the revised date of January 31, reciting vows in Jankovic's Serbian Orthodox church before travelling to the *Swan Valley *for a reception at *Sandalford Wines *.

With family jetting in from around the world to watch the nuptials, Thair said the wedding could not have been more perfect.

"Walking into the church and seeing Drasko's face was definitely a highlight," the 31-year-old said.

"I was running 40 minutes late because we couldn't get the bridesmaids' dresses on and then Drasko's sister lost her phone, so we were trying to find it."

Jankovic, 27, said he would forever remember the first dance, which took place under the stars to This Year's Love by *David Gray *.

"There was a lot of dancing - we had a Serbian band and an English band," the budding chef said. "My favourite memory was everyone in the whole venue getting up and dancing to the Serbian music."

The pair returned from a six-day honeymoon in the Maldives last week, feeling refreshed, relaxed and ready for the whirlwind of MKR, now that their "secret" round has started to air.

"After the madness of (filming), we needed time to turn off our phones and focus on each other. We had the best time," Jankovic said of their island break.

Bianca added with a smile: "It's been a long ride. so it was nice to have a bit of a break."
