"I wanted to make sure I knew everyone - I am going to be talking to these people every single day," Tinney explained to _AAA Weekend _ with a laugh.

In-between learning the show's systems, the 30-year-old accompanied Koch to a story, read Armytage's new book and spoke with Barr about all things *WA *.

He also attended Sunrise's Christmas party yesterday, which his Perth-based cameraman *Luke Williams * also flew out for.

Tinney has lived in Perth for almost seven years, having relocated from Melbourne in early 2008.

He will be Sunrise's first dedicated Perth reporter and will be on air from January 2.
