Tessa home to fight cancer

Celebrities and fans have taken to Twitter to wish former Home and Away starlet Tessa James all the best in her battle with cancer.

The 23-year-old who is married to Gold Coast Titans NRL star Nate Myles, said this week she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

James played Nicole Franklin in Home and Away from 2008- 2011 before quitting the Seven series to pursue an acting career in Hollywood.

But she has returned to the Gold Coast to start treatment.

Actors Lincoln Lewis and Esther Anderson, who both appeared on Home and Away at the same time as James, wished her all the best.

"Sending my dear friend love and strength right now and every step of the way. Love you," Anderson tweeted.

Lewis posted: "Love you Tess. Sending all our love and support from the Lewis clan xoxo."

Seven presenter Sally Obermeder, who survived stage-three breast cancer, also reached out to James on Twitter. "Tessa James all my love, strength & courage. You can do this. Know that there's so much love & support from everyone for you xx."

There has been no shortage of Home and Away fans trying to keep James' spirit up in tough and uncertain times.

"Sending all my love to Tessa James who is battling cancer loved her on Home and Away hope she beats it & comes back fighting all the way xx," one wrote.

Another soapie fan posted: "Such a sad shock to find out Tessa James one of my faves from Home and Away has cancer! xx getwellsoon homeandaway sosad."

In a statement, James announced she would base herself on the Gold Coast while undergoing treatment.

"Tessa will be undergoing chemotherapy over the next few months. Tessa and Nate would like to thank all for their well wishes and would ask for privacy during this very difficult time," the statement read.
