Hot new male model claims catwalk

Last year he was working in his family's chain of IGA supermarkets but Perth hunk Mark Grant is now on his way to becoming one of Australia's top male models.

The 24-year-old was the only WA man to feature in last night's David Jones spring/summer 2014 launch, where he walked with the cream of the Aussie modelling world, including male supermodel twins Jordan and Zac Stenmark.

"It is great to be part of that group. It is a very privileged group that gets to walk for David Jones," Grant told Access All Areas.

"They are all pretty level-headed guys and that makes it easy. There is a lot of time we spend off the catwalk, so it is nice to have some good guys to chill out with."

Grant said he never intended pursuing modelling, which is why it didn't occur to him until he was approached in the street last year.

"I actually had an agent scout me outside Bondi Westfield when I was coming out of the gym while I was living in Sydney last year. I was about 10 to 12 kilos bigger than I am now," he said.

He now juggles living in Perth and working in his family's supermarkets with his burgeoning modelling career.

"I have got a BSC - a behind-shop- counter degree," he said with a laugh.

"My family has got supermarkets, so I am pretty heavily involved in the business; it is what I have always done.

"But (modelling) is something I would love to do more of in the future - you have got to take hold of the opportunities."
