Ayris reveals heartbreak
He was the luckiest man in Australia when his girlfriend Renae Ayris was named Miss Universe Australia in 2012.
But Connolly-raised Ayris has revealed she was dumped by high-school sweetheart and FIFO worker Sam Doyle just days after she finished fourth in the international final in Las Vegas in December, 2012.
"He broke up with me pretty much straight after Miss Universe in Vegas," Ayris, 23, revealed this week. "It was hard to deal with at the time. We just grew apart. We've been together since we were 15 and that's kids, that's so young and we were going down different paths."
But Doyle's loss is Thomas Bellchambers' gain, with Ayris and the 25-year-old AFL hunk, above, celebrating their first anniversary together.
While Ayris is now based in Sydney, Bellchambers lives in Melbourne where he plays for Essendon Football Club.
"It sucks, the whole long-distance thing but we talk a lot on the phone, I probably annoy him a bit but that's all right," she said. "It's worth it."
