Polo draws who's who of Perth
Perth's who's who and a large contingent of visiting celebrities descended on *Peter * and *Debra Prendiville *'s private *Middle Swan *estate yesterday for the annual Citigold Polo in the Valley. In its fifth year, the event upped the ante when it came to fashion, glamour and philanthropy, with visiting Australian Victoria's Secret model *Shanina Shaik *leading the pack.
The 23-year-old New York-based stunner had flown into *Perth * for the first time to support the event because of its links to youth suicide prevention charity Youth Focus. She had experienced horrific bullying at high school.
Shaik told _AAA _ she had enjoyed her weekend in Perth, where she had indulged in a private tour of *Sandalford Wines *in the Swan Valley on Saturday, before having to throw herself into the midst of Fashion Week Australia where she will headline the Swarovski show. But Shaik had to forfeit the free-flowing Mumm champagne she could be in top shape this week. "I can enjoy myself without the champagne," she said.
WA * X Factor winner *Samantha Jade *was the star attraction in *Rick * and *Emily Parish *'s Telethon Adventurers marquee.
While Rick drew attention to his skydiving out of a helicopter to deliver the first ball drop earlier in the day, Jade attracted fans wherever she stepped.
The *Morley * singer arrived on Friday from Sydney but only after a delay when her plane was diverted to Adelaide after smoke was seen coming out of an engine.
Jade has moved back to Perth from Sydney to help take care of her sick mum *Jacqueline Gibbs *, who she said was doing better every day. "She is OK. We are just asking everyone to keep praying," she told AAA.
At $395 a head, the exquisitely styled VIP Pavilion was filled to the brim with Perth's A-list, from *Rhonda Wyllie *and *Denise Satterley *to *Glen * and *Harmony Moltoni *, * *who returned from their new home base in Sydney to attend.
Over in the Youth Focus marquee, Governor *Malcolm McCusker *got into the spirit donning an akubra hat while his wife *Tonya * looked the part as always as she mingled with guests such as *Warwick Hemsley *, *Melissa Parke *, *Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan *and *Kate O'Hara *.
